Rehabilitation Cost Questions

How much does rehabilitation cost?

Most rehabilitation centers charge a daily rate. Genworth Financial estimates that the 2023 average cost of a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center is about $280 per day for a semi-private room and $319 for a private room.

Will Medicare or Medicaid cover rehabilitation?

Most Medicare plans cover up to 100 days of rehab if you meet the guidelines, although the average length of stay is approximately 30 days. If you qualify, Medicaid does help cover rehabilitation needed due to injury, disability, or illness.

Medicaid also covers skilled nursing services at Medicaid-certified communities as long as the patient meets certain eligibility requirements.

Will my insurance cover rehabilitation?

Your managed care insurance plan may cover your rehabilitation, but the time periods they cover will vary by plan. If you are unsure of what your plan will cover, contact the Optalis community you’re interested in and we can help obtain the information.

Will I or my loved one be able to afford rehabilitation?

Each Optalis care community has financial service resource coordinators to help you or your loved one explore options for paying for inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation.

What is included in the cost of an Optalis rehabilitation community?

While receiving inpatient rehabilitation services at an Optalis care community, patients have access to therapy and nursing services, meals, and activities. They’ll also be able to enjoy personal laundry and linen services, activities and outings, transportation, and more.

Assisted Living Cost Questions

How much does assisted living cost?

The cost of assisted living depends on the community you choose, as well as the apartment type. In general, Genworth Financial estimates that the 2023 average monthly cost of an assisted living community is $4,774.

At Optalis, the monthly cost of an assisted living apartment depends on two factors: the apartment rate and the level of care rate, which is determined by an assessment that is completed prior to moving in. It varies by the resident, but the monthly rate at an Optalis assisted living community can range from around $4,000-$5,000.

Will Medicare or Medicaid cover assisted living?

Medicare does not cover assisted living. When it comes to Medicaid, some assisted living communities accept the Ohio Medicaid assisted living waiver, which can help with the cost of assisted living. However, the resident must first have completed two or more years of private pay before this option is available.

Will my insurance cover assisted living?

Most assisted living communities are private-pay. Most private health insurance plans do not cover the cost of assisted living.

If you have a skilled nursing insurance plan (which is different from traditional health insurance), that will likely cover assisted living. Coverage varies by plan, so you will need to ask your provider if you have any questions.

Will I or my loved one be able to afford assisted living?

Many residents worry that they will not be able to afford assisted living or that they will run out of funds while living at an Optalis community. Rest assured, we do our best to financially qualify each resident to ensure that doesn’t happen.

We collect a financial application before move-in and go over a resident’s finances with them to determine if they are a good fit and will be able to afford the cost of assisted living.
